Service Teams

We have several service teams that enable us to use the gifts God has given us in service to our ministry programs and church family. These teams are open to anyone who feels called to serve on them. This is true even for our deacon teams, which are led by deacons but empowered by all who feel called to them so that we might serve all. Simply reach out to the church office and let us know that you would like to get plugged in, and we will be happy to put you in touch with the current team leaders.

Bereavement Team

This is a ministry to families at the time of death of a loved one. We visit as soon as possible to extend care to the family and determine needs (i.e., paper goods, transportation, meals, and home readiness for visitors). Then we coordinate with other teams to meet those needs.

Homebound and Nursing Home Team

This is a ministry of contact by personal visitation, phone calls, and mail. We minister to persons confined to their homes, retirement communities, nursing centers, or rehabilitation facilities.

Hospital and Medical Support Team

This is a ministry for those in the hospital or at home receiving medical treatment (like ongoing cancer treatments). We will demonstrate that God cares, and we care – they are not alone.

Inactive Member Outreach Team

This is a ministry to let members who aren’t participating know that they are missed, extend them an invitation to return, and if possible, understand why they no longer participate. This could include understanding complaints that need to be acknowledged and addressed.

Joyful Celebrations Team

This is a ministry to celebrate joyful events – like birthdays, anniversaries, baptisms, baby dedications, graduations, retirements, staff anniversaries, and church-wide special events. Cards, phone calls, bulletin boards, and church-wide publications will all be used to communicate.

New Member and Visitor Team

This is a ministry to those who are new in Aiken and to those who visit us in order to provide an opportunity to learn about FBC. We will make sure they feel welcome and will provide orientation to our church and programs when they choose to join.

Small Jobs Team

This is a ministry of providing handyman-type physical help at person’s homes such as changing light bulbs, small repairs, moving furniture, and helping with seasonal decorations.

Audio Visual Team

This team makes Sunday morning worship happen in the sanctuary and online from behind the scenes. They run the sound board and cameras and bring it all together for a wonderful in-house and online experience.

Benevolence Team

This team ministers to families in grief by providing a meal on the day of a funeral. This ministry allows families to gather without worrying about space, provision of food, or clean-up responsibilities. It is all taken care of so that they can simply focus on being together.

Hospitality Team

This team provides food for so many of our gatherings, including our Wednesday night dinners. They organize themselves into sub-teams to share the load and always provide an incredible opportunity for fellowship around great food.

Ushers

Our ushers provide a warm welcome to members and guests alike on Sunday mornings. They are there to greet you, offer you a bulletin, help you with any questions you might have, and tend to any needs that arise.

Prayer Team

Our prayer team is faithful in keeping the prayer concerns of our congregation in front of us every month by thoughtfully producing a prayer calendar with a prayer focus for every day of the year.

Flower Team

The flower team makes sure that our church sanctuary is lovely every single Sunday and goes above and beyond to make sure that our church is absolutely stunning during special church seasons. Their hard work is most evident during Advent and Christmas when our sanctuary is simply stunning.

Media Center Team

This team is in charge of organizing and overseeing our church library which provides great books for enjoyment and for study. They also help our preschoolers become acquainted with how a library works by lending them books as they are learning to read.

History Team

The history team organizes and files many of our publications for safe-keeping and catalogs several other pieces of our church history so that we may always remember those who have paved the pathway before us.

Activities Team

The activities team oversees various sporting events and opportunities in our family life center, from pick-up basketball to pickleball.
