So, it is Thursday, and I have been assigned the Thursday Thoughts column.  I guess I had better get to thinking.

I am thinking that I have found a good spot at Aiken’s First Baptist Church.  It has been 3 delightful months working and being with you.  Dana and I had a pretty good idea that there were good people at AFBC, otherwise, we would not have moved here.  But you continue to show us what love looks like.

I am thinking that we have arrived at a good time.  The Bold Faithfulness conversations have developed into what I think is the best “heavy lift” I have ever seen.  The scope of the conversations and the imagining of what church can be is really astounding.  It is Bold and it will require great Faith.  Both of which I have seen in abundance here.

I am thinking that the next few steps might not be the most comfortable, but I know that people grow only when they are challenged.

Our next step will be to remodel the Roberts Building and prepare it to become the permanent home of Brothers and Sisters of Aiken County.  This means that we will have to relocate our existing classes/groups that meet there.

Most of our Adult classes will be affected.  In time, Adult 1, 3, 4, and 6 will find new homes for study and fellowship.  I will be dropping in on some of our Adult classes this Sunday (6/1) to offer some detail and answer any questions.  Our target to begin this changeover is June 8.  Please know that we will make every effort for a smooth transition.

In the meantime, feel free to call me with any questions or concerns (706 669 2990).

I am thinking that new space and a change in routines just might be the best way for people to grow into their potential.  And I know that people of faith are called to do just that – sometimes in a bold way.

Peace be with you.
